It sounded like thunder.

I was at the Travis Avenue Baptist Church prayer room. Early 80's. I think it was a Saturday night. I was there in a neatly upholstered room praying off a prayer list  on the far north side of the campus. And I heard shots--like thunder. Five or six. They echoed off the wide, flat northside of the main sanctuary. A magnum pistol--I guessed. I am ex-LE, ex-military and shooter. I ran outside. Into the dark. I could see an old Buick or a similar boat make the corner with loud Hispanic revelry coming from inside  the car. It was completely dark. I couldn't see a thing.  I went back into the room and called it in. The cops showed up promptly. Cordoned off the area. I approached one of the officers who didn't want me screwing up the crime scene so I stayed back. I had almost nothing to tell him cuz I didn't see anything.  Apparently some poor guy was walking back from the grocery store late that night and became a target instead of just a guy walking back to his place with groceries. The guy with the groceries was laying in the street dying and I didn't even know it. A carload of low-lifes had  used him for target practice. One of the cops told me the guy had tried to defend himself with a knife.

Sydney

Laura&Josh post delivery.I am so proud/grateful for my kids. Sydney--the short one--began wearing 3-6 mo. old clothing right out of the chute. I am grateful beyond expression.

Laura shot this with her phone. So precious. I'd love to have this poster.  :)  Laura tells me that she has seen Olivia "reading" to Sydney--in spite of the fact that Olivia can't read just yet. (she is three)
